Painted Hunter

This is the second Gear that i have painted, the first was for my Arc Fleet. He will just be used only for
Gruntz. This is the first of my Northern Gaurd Army. I had a hard time trying to think of colours i could use. I did'nt want bright colours. And i did'nt want them to be all one colour. in the end i'm very happy how he turned out. Now i'm not one for painting a miniature for a few hours then returning to do another
few hours then finish. its one sitting and job done. This hunter was done in about an hour and a half. then the base was extra time. He may not be golden gear standard but good table top standard.

Not the best gear your going to see but i think the colours look ok.

  1. Creditable job for an hour and a half mate :-)

Some stand out bits for me are that you've put in some hatching for glints and weathering, especially on the MAC, good glasslike finish on the ocular lens, and you've given sharp edge highlighting a go. Nice one! Your painting is definitely coming on leaps and bounds :-)

I still haven't decided on a scheme for my Southers yet, I've got four Jagers assembled now though and the new bases arrived today for my Spitting Cobras :-) The 25mm bases they came with were too small but 40mm bases were too big... In the end I managed to find some 30mm chamfered edge round bases at Hasslefree Miniatures, haven't seen that size anywhere apart from the WM/Hordes style roll-shouldered bases so I'm well happy. They're a perfect size.

    1. Meant to ask, how have you armed your GP squad? I've gone with light bazooka and a paratrooper gun (light auto cannon + light grenade launcher) as well as three light auto cannons. Can't see me using them as vets if I've got almost any other squad on the table.

Oh, I caved in as well, I've got a Strike Squad incoming next week :-D

  3. The images are a little bit on the dark side, but I think it looks good! Dark brown and grey is a colour scheme that serves the Northern gears well.

The highlights are fairly bold, but on this scale I think it works well. Did you use some filter during post processing or is this the natural look of the mini?

    Looking forward to seeing more!

Oh, and as for armament, have you thought about magnetizing them? It's a little bit more work, but then you won't have to worry about equipping them the "right" way. Here's how I did mine: Magnetizing Mecha! A How To.
